Trees we grow

Shade trees built for the desert

We grow 40,000+ trees in Coachella Valley conditions, so they arrive already hardened to heat, sun, and wind. Call for current sizes and counts.

🌼

Desert Museum Palo Verde

A thornless hybrid that grows fast, takes full sun and reflected heat, and blooms yellow every spring. Its green bark keeps it attractive even in extreme heat.

Best for: fast filtered shade, low water, color.

🌳

Mesquite

Thornless Chilean and native varieties with a wide, umbrella canopy. Handles heat and drought once established. Stake young trees and prune for structure in windy areas.

Best for: big shade over patios and parking.

🌸

Desert Willow

A native with orchid-like pink, purple, or white flowers from spring into fall. Stays smaller than mesquite and attracts hummingbirds.

Best for: smaller yards, color, wildlife.

🪨

Desert Ironwood

A slow-growing native that’s extremely heat- and drought-proof once established, with gray-green foliage and lavender spring flowers.

Best for: long-term, low-maintenance plantings.

🍃

Acacia

From the airy, weeping shoestring acacia (a great narrow screen) to wider shade-forming species. Fast-growing and tolerant of poor soil.

Best for: quick shade and narrow spaces.

Sizes

Which size tree should you buy?

  • 15 gallon: lower cost and often establishes faster
  • 24″ box: more presence right away
